Yazaki's timeline of success dates back to 1929 when Sadami Yazaki began selling electric wires for automobiles.

After important changes in governmental regulations in 1935, Japanese companies were allowed to start domestic automotive production – with positive effects for Yazaki: In 1939 the company extended its business and in 1941 Yazaki Electric Wire Industrial Co. Ltd. was established with about 70 employees. Yazaki currently operates in 45 countries and 140 companies and is the employer of more than 239, 753 employees.

The business activity of the company in Bulgaria started in 2006 and is related to production of wire harnesses for the automotive industry, with main clients Renault, Ford and Daimler. With its three plants in Yambol, Sliven and Dimitrovgrad, Yazaki Bulgaria is one of the biggest employers in Bulgaria, with around 5.500 employees as of 2017.
